Enkei
World's leading aluminum wheel manufacturer
History & Overview
Founded on October 5, 1950, as Enshu Keigokin Co., Ltd. in Hamamatsu, Japan, Enkei (meaning 'Enshu lightweight alloy') was the first company to manufacture aluminum wheels domestically in Japan (1967). Originally producing aircraft parts, the company transitioned to automotive wheels and now operates 19 factories across 9 countries.
Enkei revolutionized the industry with their MAT (Most Advanced Technology) process, combining casting with flow forming to achieve near-forged strength at accessible prices. This technology puts forged-level performance within reach of enthusiasts who couldn't otherwise afford it.
The company's motorsport credentials are impeccable. They've been the official wheel supplier to McLaren F1 since 1995, providing lightweight magnesium race wheels that have contributed to multiple podium finishes. The RPF1, introduced in the early 2000s, became one of the most iconic aftermarket wheels ever made and remains the benchmark for lightweight track wheels.

How to Spot Fakes
Enkei wheels are frequently counterfeited. Here's how to verify authenticity:
- 'Enkei' stamp must be present on the wheel
- 'Made in Japan' clearly marked, not 'Enkei Japan' or 'Design by Japan'
- QC (Quality Control) sticker on barrel
- 'M.A.T' wording on back of rim
- JWL/VIA certification marks present
- Authentic RPF1s NEVER have engraved logos on the wheel face/spokes
- Red Enkei logo is a separate DECAL included in the box, not on the wheel itself
