Kansei
Modern engineering meets retro JDM design
History & Overview
Founded in April 2018 in Garden Grove, California, by Chris Sempek, a mechanical engineering graduate who built a following by sharing wheel renderings on Instagram. His grassroots approach of engaging with the automotive community and attending drift events led to an official SEMA booth debut in 2018 where the brand formally launched.
The name 'Kansei' (感性) is a Japanese concept referring to emotional connection and sensory experience, describing how products engage consumers on both emotional and practical levels. The brand's mission centers on building performance wheels that complement classic car heritage while utilizing modern engineering and materials.
Kansei developed their proprietary Formlite manufacturing process, combining flow forming benefits with accessible pricing. The company has since grown and partnered with companies like Torque Motorsport for the Torque Drift 2 video game. They maintain heavy involvement in the grassroots drift community.
