RAYS Engineering

The benchmark for Japanese forged wheels

Est. 1973Japan

History & Overview

RAYS Engineering was founded in 1973 in Higashiosaka, Osaka, Japan, with RAYS Co., Ltd. established in 1977 and RAYS Engineering Co., Ltd. in 1979. The company pioneered forged wheel technology in Japan and celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2023.

RAYS uses a patented 3D forging process applying over 10,000 tons of force (nearly twice that of most competitors) with 12 tons per mm of surface. Their proprietary aluminum alloy, similar to 6061 aircraft aluminum but with added silica and magnesium, increases tensile strength 18% over standard alloys.

The company's motorsport heritage is unmatched: Le Mans victory in 1991 with the Mazda 787B (first Japanese car to win), five consecutive WEC victories with Toyota Gazoo Racing (2018-2022), and F1 wheel supply to Williams. All wheels are 'Made in Japan' products manufactured through their integrated 'ALL RAYS' production system.
