Konig

Flow formed technology at budget-friendly prices

Est. 1982USA

History & Overview

Konig was founded in 1982, taking a German-sounding name despite being designed and distributed out of North America. Wheels are manufactured in Taiwan, which keeps costs competitive without sacrificing the construction quality the brand built its reputation on. Konig positioned itself early in the sport compact segment, targeting the growing number of enthusiasts modifying import cars for the first time. Through the 1990s and into the 2000s, the brand built a consistent presence in that community.

The tuner era of the 1990s and 2000s suited Konig well. Honda Civic, Subaru WRX, and Mitsubishi Eclipse owners were looking for wheels that looked the part without a painful price tag, and Konig's broad fitment catalog served that market effectively. The brand developed a reputation for delivering more style variety at lower price points than most competitors, which built a loyal following in the Honda, Subaru, and Mitsubishi communities that has carried forward.

Konig introduced flow formed wheels in 2010 and has continued refining the process since. The lineup includes the Hypergram, which weighs as little as 11.6 lbs and ranks among the lightest options in its price class, the Dekagram for motorsport use, and the Dial-In for drag racing. Konig's flow forming process draws on the same technical principles as Enkei's MAT technology, and the resulting strength-to-weight performance of Konig's flow formed options has been validated as comparable to Enkei's own lineup, making Konig one of the clearest value propositions in the segment.

Today the catalog covers cast, flow formed, and forged tiers. The flow formed options remain the most compelling part of the lineup, offering near-forged construction at prices accessible to budget-conscious enthusiasts. Konig has NASA and SCCA grassroots motorsport sponsorship programs and continues to serve the compact and sport car market with a catalog that balances visual variety with honest pricing.
