MOMO
Italian motorsport legend from F1 to street
History & Overview
Founded in 1964 in Monza, Italy, MOMO began when racing driver Gianpiero Moretti commissioned a local craftsman to create a custom steering wheel with a superior, thicker grip than standard racing wheels of the time. That innovation sparked a company that would become synonymous with motorsport excellence.
MOMO's Formula 1 success came immediately when John Surtees noticed Moretti's steering wheel and mounted it on his Ferrari single-seater. Surtees won the 1964 F1 World Championship using a MOMO wheel, launching the brand's reputation. MOMO went on to partner with Ferrari, Williams, McLaren, and other iconic teams. MOMO steering wheels have been used by champions including Michael Schumacher, Ayrton Senna, and Niki Lauda.
The brand expanded from steering wheels into wheels and other automotive accessories. MOMO wheels carry the same motorsport DNA, designed with input from racing engineers and tested under demanding conditions. Today, MOMO offers a range of wheels from affordable cast options to premium flow formed designs, making Italian motorsport heritage accessible to enthusiasts worldwide.
